Baby Moon Yoga is much more than “just” yoga. We operate from a foundation of 3 categories of study that inform the unique construction of our intelligent & well-balanced classes. These categories include:

  • Hatha Yoga for Pregnancy & Postpartum: Hatha (Ha – Sun/Tha- Moon) is the physical practice of Yoga that originated in India. Hatha Yoga gives us the opportunity to explore balance in the body through specific movements, and this practice uses the physical body as a vehicle into this moment – a union of the body and mind. The practice of yoga is naturally a great way to also prepare for how to be in labor and parenthood. There are numerous ways in which yoga is infused into our classes and each will remind us of what we’re doing and honor the practice and traditions of Hatha Yoga. Breathing practices & nervous system regulation are also included in classes.
  • Childbirth Education & Labor Preparation – from the perspectives of labor doula support methods, numerous techniques to master self regulation and deep relaxation (ideal for labor), childbirth education to help empower the pregnant person with knowledge, & techniques to encourage optimal fetal positioning for use during pregnancy & labor.
  • Body Mechanics: includes muscular or subtle actions to support proper alignment. Not only are the postures that we do safe for pregnancy, but they are also helping the pregnant body stay strong and prepare the body to open & soften as it needs to for childbirth. Instruction of postures emphasizes alignment, which helps avoid injury & maximizes its benefits. Exploring healthy alignment in yoga postures is recommended for any-body, but it is critical during pregnancy & postpartum.
